Royal Star Block Assembly
Outer Butterfly Blocks
Lay out 2 light blue 10½″ squares and 2 dark blue/white Small Half Square Triangles (HST) as shown below. Sew together into pairs.
Sew the pairs together to make an Outer Butterfly block.
The block measures 20½″ x 20½″ unfinished. Repeat to make 4.
Inner Butterfly Block
Lay out 1 light blue 10½″ square, 1 dark blue 10½″ square, and 2 light blue/white Small HST as shown below. Sew together into pairs.
Sew the pairs together to make an Inner Butterfly block.
The block measures 20½″ x 20½″ unfinished. Repeat to make 2.
Double Butterfly Block
Lay out 1 light blue 10½″ square, 1 dark blue/white Small HST, and 2 light blue/white Small HST as shown below. Sew together into pairs.
Sew the pairs together to make an Double Butterfly block.
The block measures 20½″ x 20½″ unfinished. Repeat to make 2.
Royal Star Quilt Assembly
Using the diagram below for orientation, lay out the quilt in rows as follows:
1st Row: Outer Butterfly Block, Big HST, Big HST, Outer Butterfly Block
2nd Row: Big HST, Inner Butterfly Block, Double Butterfly Block, Big HST
3rd Row: Big HST, Double Butterfly Block, Inner Butterfly Block, Big HST
4th Row: Outer Butterfly Block, Big HST, Big HST, Outer Butterfly Block
Sew the blocks and units together into rows, then sew the rows together.

I’m so excited to see this quilt along! I just mad the Royal Star from a previous post and it laying over my longarm waiting for ideas on how to quilt it. I’m hoping there will be some suggestions coming from this group!
