Cutting Instructions:
From the purple fabric, cut:
(2) 3” x 3” squares
From the light purple fabric, cut:
(2) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares
From the dark yellow fabric, cut:
(2) 1 ½” x 1 ½” squares
From the light yellow fabric, cut:
(4) 1 ½” x 2 ½” rectangles
From the background fabric, cut:
(2) 3” x 3” squares
(4) 1 ½” x 2 ½” rectangles
Assembly
Half Square Triangle
Mark the wrong side of the background 3” squares in half diagonally once. Lay a marked background square over a purple 3” square, right sides together. Sew a quarter inch from each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line.
Trim unit to 2 1/2” square. Make 4.

Here’s how to size a Half Square Triangle…
Rail
Sew a light yellow 1 ½” x 2 ½” rectangle to the side of a background 1 ½” x 2 ½” rectangle. Press seams toward the yellow.
Unit measures 2 ½” x 2 ½”. Make 4.
Four Patch
Sew a dark yellow 1 ½” square to a light purple 1 ½” square. Press seams toward the light purple. Make 2.
Sew the two units together with colors alternating to make the Four Patch unit.
Unit measures 2 ½” x 2 ½”.
Block Assembly
Use the block diagram above to layout the block into rows. Sew the units into rows.
Sew the rows together to complete the block.
Block measures 6 ½” x 6 ½” unfinished.
