This year we invite you to join us as we celebrate 35 years of quilting, 35 years of quilters, and 35 years of AQS inspiring, educating, and nurturing quilters who love quilting. Here’s to the next 35!
In this series, we start in 1985 and work our way to 2019 taking a look at the quilting world through our unique perspective. Enjoy the beautiful quilts and marvel at the amazing heritage quilting is because of you, the quilter.[/vc_column_text][ultimate_spacer height=”15″ height_on_tabs=”10″ height_on_tabs_portrait=”10″ height_on_mob_landscape=”10″ height_on_mob=”10″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”65844″ img_size=”medium” onclick=”img_link_large”][ultimate_spacer height=”15″ height_on_tabs=”5″ height_on_tabs_portrait=”5″ height_on_mob_landscape=”5″ height_on_mob=”5″][vc_single_image image=”65843″ img_size=”medium” onclick=”img_link_large”][ultimate_spacer height=”15″ height_on_tabs=”5″ height_on_tabs_portrait=”5″ height_on_mob_landscape=”5″ height_on_mob=”5″][vc_single_image image=”65841″ img_size=”medium” onclick=”img_link_large”][ultimate_spacer height=”15″ height_on_tabs=”5″ height_on_tabs_portrait=”5″ height_on_mob_landscape=”5″ height_on_mob=”5″][vc_single_image image=”65842″ img_size=”medium” onclick=”img_link_large”][ultimate_spacer height=”15″ height_on_tabs=”5″ height_on_tabs_portrait=”5″ height_on_mob_landscape=”5″ height_on_mob=”5″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]American Quilter Magazine

This was the first AQS show I attended. The top quilt made by Jonathan Shannon was breathtaking! It is sad you can’t show the back of this quilt also as it was just as amazing as the front!! I found the International quilts intersting, especially one that was entered from Japan that had zippers incorporated into the design (it obviously has stuck in my brain since then!).
I loved getting around to all the area on the trolleys, the amazing shops where all the townsfolk were so helpful, and of course, the amazing dogwood blossoms! Paducah has grown to accommodate the massive influx of visitors, there weren’t enough motels back then, many people stayed as far as 60 miles away and drove into the show daily. Can’t wait to be there again this year!
Wow! That’s when Barbara Brackman’s Block Encycloppedia came out? It’s STILL frequently cited as a one of the main “go to” references for block information. I own a copy of Marston and Cunningham’s “Quilting with Style” (also still two of the legends in the business) and frequently refer to it for quilt stitch designs as well.
These same quilts could be winners even today!
