Here’s Lisa Calle in an interview with American Quilter Editor-in-Chief Michele Duffy, describing the develop-as-it goes process she used when making her 1st Place Longarm/Midarm Wall Quilt winner, RED VELVET.
Lisa doesn’t start with a finished design in her head; instead, she finds inspiration in viewing the separate parts on her design board. The machine quilting is a more detailed, planned process. The quilting of RED VELVET, from concept to completion, took about 150 hours.
Lisa’s quilt CROWN JEWELS won the 2nd Place – Wallhanging award at AQS QuiltWeek – Phoenix, Arizona in February 2014, and she won Best of show at AQS QuiltWeek – DesMoines, Iowa 2010 with her quilt HULA HIBISCUS, shown below.
We look forward to seeing what Lisa will create in the future!
