Cutting Instructions
From the teal fabric, cut:
(2) 2″ x 2″ squares
(16) 1″ x 1″ squares
(4) 1½” x 3½” rectangles
(8) 1″ x 2″ rectangles
(8) 1″ x 1½” rectangles
From the dark sky fabric, cut:
(4) 1″ x 1½” rectangles
(8) 1″ x 1″ squares
From the white fabric, cut:
(2) 2″ x 2″ squares
(4) 1″ x 1″ squares
Unit Assembly
Half Square Triangles (HST)
Mark the wrong side of the white 2″ squares in half diagonally once. Lay a marked square over a teal 2″ square, right sides together. Sew a quarter inch from each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line.
Unit measures 1½” square. Make 4.
Flying Geese
Mark the wrong side of a teal 1″ square diagonally once. Lay the marked square on the corner of a dark sky 1″ x 1½” rectangle and sew on the marked line. Trim a quarter inch from the marked line and press. Repeat the process with a teal 1″ square on the other end of the triangle.
Unit measures 1″ x 1½” rectangle. Make 4.
Kite Units

Follow the numbered sequence to complete each unit using scraps of the teal, dark sky, and white fabrics.
Unit measures 2½” square. Make 4.
Square Units
Sew a teal 1″ square to a dark sky 1″ square.
Unit measures 1″ x 1½” rectangle. Make 8.
Block Assembly
Middle Sections
Sew a Square unit to each end of a teal 1½” x 3½” rectangle.
Sew a teal 1″ x 2″ rectangle to each side of a dark sky/teal Flying Geese. Sew this unit to the bottom of the previous unit as shown below.
Unit measures 2″ x 3½” rectangle. Make 4.
Corner Units
Sew a teal 1″ x 1½” rectangle to the side of a HST as shown below. Sew a teal 1″ x 1½” rectangle to a white 1″ square. Sew this to the previous unit as shown below.
Corner unit measures 2″ square. Make 4.
Block Center
Sew four Kite units together as shown in the image below to make the block center.
Unit measures 4½” square.
Layout the block sections as shown below. Sew the sections into rows, and the rows into a block.
Block measures 7½” square.

Working on this block today and see one correction needed to the cutting instructions: For the Teal fabric you actually need to cut (16) 1″ squares because (8) are used for the Flying Geese units (flip and sew corners) and the remaining (8) are used to make the two patch “Square Units” with the dark squares.
