Special thanks to Bonnie Browning for use of her book for reference, Vintage Quilt Blocks State by State by Bonnie K. Browning.
The frame going around the star, does that have to be included to classify it as a Virginia Star quilt? I’m thinking about painting this on wood and was wondering about the frame. Someone told me it does not, but I want to ask the experts!! Thanks so much.
Hi Reb, No, you can make your block however you like, with or without the frame. Sounds like a fun project! Thanks, Betsey
This block web page doesn’t appear to have the link to download the piecing pattern.
Hi Rita, The Virginia block is traditionally pieced so no downloadable templates or patterns are necessary. Thanks, Betsey
