Download Applique template and Foundation Paper Piecing patterns.
- Print 4 of pattern A.
- Print 2 of pattern B.
- Print 2 of pattern C.
- Print 2 of pattern D.
- Print 8 of template E.
- Print 8 of template F.
Instructions:
Applique
From the orange fabric, cut 8 each from templates E and F for applique. Note: No seam allowance has been added to the applique edge. The edge with the seam allowance is sewn into the block.
From the lime fabric, cut 4 squares using the square from pattern C as a template.
Applique the orange E quarter circles to opposite corners of the lime square. Make 4.
From the light yellow fabric, cut 4 squares using the square from pattern A as a template.
Applique the orange F half ovals to the opposite sides of the light yellow square. Make 4.
Use the appliqued units in the paper pieced units.
Paper Piecing
Using dark sky and light yellow fabrics, complete paper piecing pattern D. Make 2.
Using light yellow fabric and two of the lime squares with orange quarter circles, complete paper piecing pattern C. Make 2.
Using light yellow and purple fabrics along with two of the lime squares with orange quarter circles, complete paper piecing pattern B. Make 2.
Using the purple and light sky blue fabrics along with the four light yellow squares with half ovals, complete paper piecing pattern A. Make 4.
Block Assembly:
Using the diagram below as a guide, sew the 2 D units together. Sew a C unit to each side of the center.
Sew a B unit to the top and bottom of this center row.
Sew an A unit to each of the corners to complete the block.
Block measures 12 1/2″ unfinished.
