Dark Blue
Light Navy
Light Sky
White
Download Applique Template and Foundation Paper Piecing Pattern.
- Print 5 of the Petal applique template.
- Print 5 of the paper piecing pattern.
- Print 1 of the placement diagram.
Instructions:
From the light sky and dark blue fabrics, cut a 14″ square. Cut the squares in half diagonally. Cut 1 half from each color in half diagonally. Sew together to make a square. Note: The two extra halves are not used in this block. The squares are cut in this manner so there isn’t a bias outer edge.
From the white fabric, cut 5 petal appliques.
Using the white and light navy fabrics, make the paper piecing pattern. Make 5. Sew the paper piecing patterns together to make a ring.
Assemble the placement diagram and trace the center circle to make a template.
Using the circle template, cut a circle from the light navy fabric.
Applique the light navy circle to the paper pieced ring.
Applique the ring unit to the pieced background square using the placement diagram as a guide.
Block Assembly:
Trim the block to measure 12 1/2″ unfinished.
