This week’s Quilt of the Week features a breathtaking combination of hand applique, hand embroidery, fabric painting and stuff work. It is called American Still Life and was made by Sandra Leichner. The traditional imagery of this quilt looks like something from a tole painting. Sandra explains that the meaning behind the quilt is very special. This was Sandra’s 911 quilt and in the process of making it the Columbia disaster occurred and the Iraq War started.
