Customizing Block Size with Framing Borders
If you want to make the block a different size without recalculating, choose the size that is smaller but nearest to the size you desire. Then sew a framing border around the block to make the block the size you want.
For example, want a 12″ finished block? Choose the 8″ block.
12″ (desired block size) – 8″(current block size) = 4″ needed
4″ / 2 (to divide evenly) = 2″
2″ + 1/2″ (seam allowance) = 2 1/2″ wide strips needed for the framing border.

“I was feeling a tad guilty not displaying a heart to support all those who are risking their lives for us…till this lovely heart pattern from AQS showed up in my inbox this morning. I made it to reflect my house, white, red roof.”
Thanks for sharing and for touching our hearts, Barb!
