Quilts made 150 years ago during the Civil War are very rare and even more rare are those made block by block, or potholder style. The instructions in the free pattern are for making this 71″ quilt in the traditional manner. Make it in your favorite colors or duplicate the red, white, and blue for an authentic reproduction.

lovely
Thank you: I was seeking a Civil War era pattern with a cross to make in honor of my grandfather’s grandfather who served with Union forces among Sherman’s March.
Looks like a great Quilt of Valor project.
