Cutting Instructions:
From the white fabric, cut:
(6) 2” x 2” squares
(4) 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” squares
From the red fabric, cut:
(4) 2” x 2” squares
From the black fabric, cut:
(2) 2” x 2” squares
Assembly:
Half Square Triangles
Mark the wrong side of the white 2″ squares in half diagonally once. Lay a marked white square over a red 2″ square, right sides together. Sew a quarter inch from each side of the marked line. Cut apart on the marked line and press towards the red.
Trim each Half Square Triangle to 1 1/2″ square. Make 8 red/white.
Repeat to make 4 black/white.
Block Assembly
Using the Half Square Triangles and the white 1 1/2” squares into rows using the block image below as a guide.
Sew each row.
Sew the rows together to complete the block.
Block measures 4 1/2″ square unfinished.

Thank you for the alternate colorway on this year’s blocks! I recently finished up a mug rug where I used the red, black and white color scheme and replaced the block originally patterned for the rug with this one. Will make for a very cute Christmas gift! I also purchased a black and white holiday panel that I hope to use with this year’s RBW blocks to create a medallion style setting. Wish me luck in making it to display for next Christmas!
