Cutting Instructions
From the white fabric, cut:
(1) 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” square
(8) 1 5/8” x 1 5/8” squares
(8) 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” squares
(4) 1” x ”1” squares
From the red fabric, cut:
(4) 1 5/8” x 1 5/8” squares
(1) 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” square
From the black fabric, cut:
(2) 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” squares
Assembly
Flying Geese
Mark eight white 1 5/8″ squares in half diagonally once. Lay two white marked squares over a black 2 1/2″ square in diagonally opposite corners. Sew a quarter inch from the marked line on both sides. Cut apart and press to the red.
Lay a marked white square over the corner of the black triangle. Sew a quarter inch from the marked line on both sides. Cut apart and press to the red. Repeat with the other red triangle.
Trim Flying Geese to 1″ x 1 1/2″ rectangle. Make 8 Flying Geese.
Repeat to make 4 inverse white and red Flying Geese units.
Corner Unit
Sew a white 1″ square to the left side of a red/white Flying Geese unit as shown below.
Sew a red/white Flying Geese unit to a white 1 1/2″ square as shown below.
Unit measures 2″ square unfinished. Make 4.
Center Units
Sew a white 1 1/2″ square to the top of a white/red Flying Geese unit.
Make 4.
Block Assembly
Lay out the units into rows. Sew into rows, then sew the rows together to complete the block.
Block measures 4 1/2″ square unfinished.
