Beth Schillig enjoys a chat about her quilt, WANDERING ‘ROUND MY WORLD, with AQS Show Director, Bonnie Browning, in this video following Beth’s Best Innovative Quilt award at AQS QuiltWeek®—Phoenix, AZ 2014.
The stiff, circular pieces were created using hand-dyed fabrics that were machine appliquéd and machine quilted. She made the three rectangular units separately, then connected them with the completed circles.
Beth’s advice about entering an AQS contest? “Just dig in and do it!”
We happened to stumble across some great close-ups of this quilt and views of other show-stopping quilts from the Phoenix event, along with first-hand commentary from two quilt-loving attendees, Marina & Daryl Lynn. Enjoyed your color and design tips -stimulating ideas. The Wandering Around My World quilt was great. Thanks Bonnie and Beth for sharing with us.
Watched again! You are special. Glad to know you.
This is a beautiful piece of fabric art, however I believe it is time to separate quilts ( which are meant to cover us up when we sleep) from fabric art. Some of us need a pattern to make quilts and are not artistically gifted. It would be nice to have two classes in quilt shows, one for quilts and one for fabric art.
