Sashing Assembly:
Sew a white 1 1/8″ x 2 1/4″ triangle to each corner of a red 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangle. Make 220.
Sew a white 1 3/8″ triangle to each corner of a red 2 1/2″ square. Make 121.
Lay out ten blocks in a row, sew a sashing rectangle between each block. Sew a sashing rectangle to each end of the row. Repeat to make 10 rows.
Alternate a sashing square between ten sashing rectangles and sew into a sashing row. Sew a sashing square to each end of the row. Repeat to make 11 sashing rows.
Beginning with a sashing row, alternate sashing and block rows to layout the quilt center. Sew the rows together.
Border Assembly:
Using the rectangle border template, mark the curve on a red 4 1/2″ x 6 3/4″ rectangles. Repeat with the square border template and the red 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ squares. I prefer to cut the curves on a scalloped border once the quilt is quilted.
You may wish to embroider, applique, or in some other way embellish your border blocks at this time.
Sew 10 rectangle border pieces together to make a border. Make 4.
On the ends of the top and bottom border, sew the square border pieces.
Sew a side border to each side of the quilt. Finish by sewing on the top and bottom border.
Layer and quilt as desired.
Baste the edge of the quilt inside the curve marks.
Trim the quilt on the curve marks.
Bind.
