The AQS Quilt 2018 project for May is Pictorial Quilts!
At the beginning of the year, you made a list of all the quilt making techniques you’d like to try in 2018 and put them in a jar. Then, you chose your own personal color of the year. You are ready!
If you missed last month’s project, check it out. We created Traditional quilts.
Our style for this month is Pictorial Quilts.
Pictorial quilts are defined as quilts made using any technique, with representation of a person, place, or thing.
Below is an example of a pictorial quilt showcasing an object.

Here, Olga Gozalez-Angulo uses a person as the focus of her pictorial quilt.

Hiroko Miyama uses animals to tell a story in her pictorial quilt.

Draw your technique from your jar, think about clever ways to play with your color of the year, and start creating.
Next week we will dive into techniques to play with, there are so many to try.
Give us a shout in the comments below letting us know your technique of choice or share with us on our Facebook group AQS Project Parade.
Let’s get started!
This is the 1st time with pictorial quilting and hope that you will have videos as we go along as I know nothing about pictorial quilting.
I clicked on “Liston to Ricky” and got the page showing pictorial quilts. There must be an error somewhere. I’ll keep the email for awhile in case you fix the problem.
Hi Susanne, We are working to resolve the issue. In the mean time, here is the link to Ricky’s post. Thanks! Betsey
