Cutting Instructions:
From the white fabric, cut:
(8) 1 5/8” x 1 5/8” squares
(4) 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” squares
(4) 1” x 2 1/2” rectangles
From the red fabric, cut:
(3) 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” squares
(4) 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” squares
Assembly:
Twin Peaks Units
Mark eight white 1 5/8″ squares in half diagonally once. Lay two white marked squares over a red 2 1/2″ square in diagonally opposite corners. Sew a quarter inch from the marked line on both sides. Cut apart and press to the red.
Lay a marked white square over the corner of the red triangle. Sew a quarter inch from the marked line on both sides. Cut apart and press to the red. Repeat with the other red triangle. Trim Flying Geese to 1″ x 1 1/2″ rectangle. Make 8 Flying Geese.
Sew together two Flying Geese units. Sew a white 1″ x 2 1/2″ rectangle to the top of the pair of Flying Geese, above the points.
Press to the white rectangle. Make 4.
Square in a Square Unit
Mark the wrong side of the white 1 1/2″ squares in half diagonally once. Lay a marked white square, right sides together, in the corner of the red 2 1/2″ square. Sew on the marked line. Trim a 1/4″ and press towards the center.
Repeat for the other three corners.
Unit measures 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ square.
Block Assembly:
Sew a Twin Peaks unit to the left and the right side of the Square in a Square with the flying geese touching the center.
Sew a red 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ square to each end of the Flying Geese rows. Sew to the top and bottom of the block center.
Block measures 4 1/2″ square unfinished.
