Cutting instructions:
From the white fabric, cut:
(1) 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ square
(2) 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(2) 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ squares
(4) 1″ x 1″ squares
From the red fabric, cut:
(4) 1 5/8″ x 1 5/8″ squares
(2) 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ rectangles
(3) 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ squares
Assembly:
Star Unit
Mark four red 1 5/8″ squares in half diagonally once. Lay two red marked squares over a white 2 1/2″ square in diagonally opposite corners. Sew a quarter inch from the marked line on both sides. Cut apart and press.
Lay a red square over the corner of the white triangle. Sew a quarter inch from the marked line on both sides. Cut apart and press. Repeat with the other white triangle.
Trim Flying Geese to 1″ x 1 1/2″ rectangle. Make 4 Flying Geese.

Using the four Flying Geese, four 1″ squares and a red 1 1/2″ square, layout the Star unit in three rows. Sew each row. Sew the rows together to complete the Star unit.
Block Assembly
Using the remaining pieces along with the Star unit, layout the block in three rows. Sew each row. Sew the rows together to complete the block.
Block measures 4 1/2″ square unfinished.

are the flying geese units’ measurements correct?
Hi Karen, Thank you for taking the time to let us know. Looks we lost a ‘1’. The measurement should read 1″ x 1 1/2″. All fixed now. Thank you! Betsey
